DIY Solar Screen Printing – Man Vs Pin – Pinterest Test #66

[The intro of all intros] What’s up everybody, I’m Rob, you’re watching Man vs Pin. Suggested a few weeks back by Zombies and liked up by over thirteen hundred of you: Solar Screen Printing! That sounds awesome! Uh… what is that? Apparently this process involves picking up this solar printing kit that I found at my local craft store. Now a lot of you had recently been asking about us selling shirts and merch, So I’m going to use this opportunity to try out a couple designs that I’ve been thinking about for a while. Now I’m not the best artist in the world which means that first things first, we’re gonna have to pilfer some images online. I always like to use GraphicStock, they have a ridiculous amount of images and they’re always adding new things. Plus, they’re royalty free, which is a bonus when you’re making shirts or any other kind of projects and don’t want to get sued. “And I’m gonna sue you. For EVERY CENT!” Does anyone else search really immature search terms when they’re on websites? Heh, this is an awesome picture. Eheheheh, and that is an even better one! Holy sh*t, that is awesome. Donkeys. Yeah, that makes sense. Middle fingers? Yes sir! Definitely saving that one. Alright, alright, we’re getting off track. Real search. I need the Loch Ness Monster. Boom, that’s the one. Easy. Uh… how do I get this watermark off? Sign up?! What? Oh wait, it’s free for a week. Sweet. Alright, I downloaded the image, I threw it into my photo editor, added some text to it, and got it all ready. Now upon opening this kit, uh… I realized that there are a f*ck ton of instructions in here and already, I kinda want to die. So… this should be interesting. Alright, now that I’ve got my image up, I gotta make a negative out of it. Check. Then, I gotta print out the negative twice onto the provided transparency sheets. Got it. I then turned down the lights, grabbed the blank shirt, I threw a piece of cardboard in between it and grabbed this little packet that they give ya. It’s like this magic gel stuff that you just kinda smear into the shirt. Make sure that’s all moist. Moist. A lot of people I know have a problem with the word moist. Do you have a problem with the word moist? Why do people have a problem with the word moist? Moist. Moist. So make sure that the shirt is not too moist and then go onto the next step. Moving on! Once the fancy, solar magic gel is applied, I gotta place the negatives, ink side up, onto the shirt and secured it with a piece of glass on top. Next step is the easiest, you just take it outside and you leave it out in the direct sunlight for 10-20 minutes. Cross your fingers that I don’t f*ck this up cuz I don’t have a lot of these transparency sheets. When everything is exposed, you just lift off the glass and the negative and… there you have it. Yea, there it is! Uh… it turned out alright I guess. It’s… it’s punk rock lookin. It’s a shirt! It is a shirt. I made it. There it is. I had an extra shirt and some more of this magic sunlight gel, so I printed out another sign and took it outside. Let’s see how that one turned out. Uh… like sh*t. God dammit, I had high hopes for this one. Ah… who am I kidding, both of these turned out pretty horrible. Solar screen printing, my d*ck. I got your solar screen printing right here! Yep, that’s how it’s done! Looks great. Whatever. That is some old school Threadbanger sh*t right there, am I right? Who’s with me? Anyone want this shirt? Let me know what clever one liner you would put on the shirt down in the comments below, and this, this could be all yours. I’m not gonna even wash it. Just gonna take it straight off and give it to you guys. But if you got some money to burn, Corinne and I just opened up a little merch store where all of our T-shirt fantasies become reality. Be sure you grab the district lines, link in the description below. While you’re down there, be sure to check out links for the rest of this week’s resources, like up this video, subscribe if you haven’t already, and we’ll see you around here next week! [snip snip snip] (Bye Rob!)
